PROJECT INFORMATION:
Location: Cambridge, MA Size: 5,000 Square Feet Design Firm: KPC Experience Design and Experience Media Contract / Project Type: Bid / Build The exhibits on the new 5,000 square-foot ground floor act as a bridge from MIT to the wider community, offering visitors a sampling of the MIT process and its outcomes. The exhibits allow them direct access to the Institute’s current research and innovation. There are three major exhibit areas on the Ground Floor: Design, Research and Explore, and all are designed to be updated frequently. Each of these areas is reflected in the transparent graphics on the exterior windows. Inside the Museum, the exhibit elements are movable and are designed with large crowds in mind, as the Ground Floor doubles as function space. The design language of the exhibits stems directly from the working process of MIT’s research laboratories. |
